Contrary to popular belief, kebab is not an everyday staple for many Turks. Traditional Turkish cuisine is built around balanced meals that combine legumes, grains, seasonal vegetables and carefully selected proteins, creating nourishing and flavourful dishes enjoyed every day across Türkiye.

Driven by passion

Hi, I'm Furkan, founder and chef behind Besin Kitchen. My journey began in Sydney in 2019, when I launched a Turkish food truck with the aim of changing the perception of kebabs in Australia. This experience sparked a deeper passion for hospitality and led me to pursue a professional culinary career.

Over the years, I have worked across restaurants, hotels, casinos and catering operations in Australia and the UK, building a strong foundation in professional cookery, bakery and pastry and large-scale food production. After 7 years in Australia, me and my wife decided to move to the UK and continued my culinary career as a sous chef in a seafood restaurant in London.

Working in London's hospitality industry made me realise that many people struggle to find fresh, affordable and nutritious hot meals during the working day. In Türkiye, this need has long been met by the traditional "lokanta" – neighbourhood eateries serving seasonal, wholesome dishes prepared fresh every day. Besin Kitchen was created to bring this tradition to London and make quality hot food more accessible.

At Besin Kitchen, our mission is simple: to bring the warmth, generosity and everyday flavours of Turkish lokantas to London's workplaces, events and communities.
